An Overview of 2007

Two New tutorials were added to the collection on How to Setup Blueprints. One for Blender and one for SoftImage

There were no major events during February, other than the steady daily updates and addition of new blueprints: 30 new updates, and 609 new blueprints this month.

Quite a lot of new features and additions were made in March:
On the frontpage, RSS feeds were added for the news, the most popular sections and the last updated sections. So if you want to stay completely up to date to the latest events on this website, you can subscribe yourself to these XML feeds:

The Newsletter was introduced in this month too: a summary of each month's events and important happening was sent to the users that subscribed to it. Due to time issues I was only able to make four newsletters in 2007, but I hope to make one each month during this year.
Here is the first newsletter for all of you who have missed it; it's the one for March 2007.

For more discussions and requests, I made a Forum which is open to anyone, and anyone who is registered and logged in, can have their say about anything they like.

New for all registered users was the Profile & Settings page, where (not surprisingly) their profile could be changed (with things like your name, location, birthday), but also settings for viewing blueprints (a default sorting order, date/dimensions/name) and whether you want to subscribe to the newsletter or not.

At the end of April 2007 a new Survey was held, to get a feel of what you as a visitor thought of the website, and what things were needed most. And just like in October of 2006, the response was great: 174 people were kind enough to spare me a few minutes and fill out the complete form. My sincere thanks for all the input!

The Search functionality was rebuilt and optimized, for higher performance. The search results are now displayed differently, and more organized. Special search links were introduced, as they are also shown on the frontpage. From all the searched done a search cloud was introduced, but due to some performance issues it was put down in August; expect it to be back very soon though in January 2008, when it will be remade.

There were no major events during May, other than the steady daily updates and addition of new blueprints: 32 new updates this month.

During June the 20000 blueprints online mark was broken! Trully a landmark in the history of the website, and I am already looking forward to get to 25000.

A comments option was added: it is now possible to make comments on each and every blueprint on the website, by clicking the small comment icon, , next to the blueprint in the lists in each category. A page with detailed information on the print is shown, as well as an option to leave anything you have to say on it: corrections, a word of thanks or awe, perhaps.

A page system was introduced, to make the blueprint lists more smooth and faster: some of the categories have over 200 prints in them, and this caused the pages to load very slowly. From this month on all lists were broken up into 75 per page lists, but with a new added sorting system, which makes it possible to sort by name, date and dimensions.

Once again I switched hosting (must be the 10th time in the history of the website!), and this time to my own dedicated machine. All my websites together get quite a few visitors a day and generate a lot of traffic, and this was too much for the server that I had been on for the year past: websites from other people were running on that one too and we were getting in each other's way, causing too much downtime. Nontheless I would still like to thank Cameron and Darren James for helping me out during the last year!

One year of consecutive updates: 365 days with at least one update each day! There were no major events during October, other than the steady daily updates: 32 new updates this month, once again.

An end of a long string of updates occured in November: I managed to do 460 updates in 428 consecutive days, which is quite a feat if you ask me, but at the end, the motivation was gone for a bit. Also due to other work (paid work) during this month, I didn't have time to keep it up.
In the planning is another big search for blueprints in January 2008, so keep you eye out for new additions then!

A few more updates and small site improvements in December, but nothing spectacular this month.
